Yoga to Empower your Body, Mind and Soul

Lisa Mills has been practicing yoga for 25 years, starting her training in Christchurch, New Zealand. Lisa attends ongoing classes, residential workshops and courses in both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2008, Lisa's desire to learn more than just the physicalities of yoga led her to explore Anusara Yoga. She is now studying under the fine tutelage of Katie Lane, New Zealands only qualified Anusara Yoga teacher.

Founded in the States by John Friend in1999, Anusara merges Yoga with an intentional focus on expressing your poses through the heart, integrating body and soul with sound alignment principals. At its core, Anusara teaching focuses on the good in the individual, and encourages expansion through a highly positive way of guiding the students.

Lisa is in her final year of training with IYTA (International Yoga Training Association)  to become a qualified teacher. She is has also attended the core teachings of Anusara Yoga, and will undertake Teacher-Training in 2012.

Yoga for children:

Lisa is available to run courses for children both in the school system or with public classes.

Yoga can assist children of all ages to form a more conscious connection with their bodies, their breath, and their core or centre. It improves flexibility and strength, calms their minds and nourishes both their spiritual and physical body on many levels. I teach the classes so they are inspiring and fun; utilising the creativity of the asana names to stimulate their imagination whilst embodying a pose.

Testimonials: From teachers...

'I loved the way you introduced yoga to the children. It shows them their body is a source of power but they can also go into their 'own world' through relaxation. It was great- a really good intro to something not many of us would have knowledge or confidence to teach'. - Steph

'What worked well with this course was the re-naming of the poses so that the children could relate, the games, the stories and the wonderful overall 'child-centred' approach to yoga has been excellent'. - Lorraine

'I think it is important to expose children to new ideas and experiences. I think some will benefit from being able to use the relaxation and focus in other areas of their lives'.- Kylie

'It has helped children be resolute and use 'inner power' to stick with it'. - Lorraine
